Today I waited 2 hours to see my neurologist only to have them skirt the issue of why I was there (another brain and spine MRI referral because I've had too many brain/spine/sinus CT and DEXA scans in the past 24 months, and for some reason my GP can't refer me to an MRI that won't leave me a few hundred dollars out of pocket), and prescribe me a medication that is contraindicated for the other medication I take. It was a very pointless way to spend an afternoon.
The only positive outcome was that I got to see this neat hospital building - for some reason I walk past it quite often but I never stop to take a photo. I wonder how imposing the building would've looked when all the surrounding trees were just saplings. I have to attend another specialist appointment (this time about my weird jaw disease) at Sunshine Hospital next week so stay tuned for more photos of bizarre hospital architecture, I guess.
Also, a weird observation: after my appointment, I walked past a bus stop outside VU and the vice-chancellor was just standing there (surrounded by a number of students who were totally oblivious to his presence). I thought he was the ABPL Dean at first. I wonder if he was actually catching the bus or just enjoying the youthful vibrancy of the crowd

Mushroom
My silence can be attributed to three things: Blogger not playing nice, the kitten chewing through all 3 iPhone cables (so getting photos off my phone means emailing them to myself one at a time), and an absurd amount of uni work (which I keep dreaming about, except in Dream World I haven't started any of it - my brain is trying to sabotage my efforts to remain calm about the workload).
We went to Mt. Macedon on Monday which was pleasant, but the trip occurred far too late in the day to result in a truly productive mushrooming experience. Might go back this weekend if I have time but we'll see how busy I'll be with my lit-review-in-progress.

Future content will probably become incredibly boring as I descend into the veritable hell that is Week 8 through to 12 (that being said, I don't think much of the content I've posted has been that thrilling anyway, so I'm not sure how much duller things can get).
Anyway, as usual, some miscellaneous photos:

Something and whatever
I've been putting off writing because I feel like there's no point unless I attach some nice (and usually unrelated) pictures. None of that this time because I'm lazy. I drank a single cider this evening and whilst it was pleasant, the ensuing chattiness was a bit unfamiliar to me but that's fine. I can see why people make a hobby of drinking. Regardless, some observations from the past week:
- 402 bus got to Kensington so fast I thought it was still in North Melbourne, then spent so long stuck at the level crossing I missed my train at Footscray, but did I expect anything to go smoothly? Probably not. I didn't even know the bus went through Kensington to begin with
- 4 people loading a shopping trolley full of cabbage leaves into a brand new Lexus 4WD at Footscray market
- I forget the name for this phenomenon but I keep getting words stuck in my head: afterlife dinnermint, "the great unwashed", and the review of the coffee making thing I bought ("If I were a robot, the AeroPress would be my arm")
- I'm going to quit my job and I mean it, will resume violin as a replacement
Actually, I decided against not posting a photo. So here's one I prepared earlier (circa 2009, I miss this building):

Good morning
I'm tired, but more confident about the way this semester is going, so that's fine. Adequate but not excellent. I am working out the structure of my literature review and it feels OK.
All of this rain bodes well for a plentiful mushroom season so I think a trip to Mt. Macedon is on the cards (stay tuned for photos of pine plantations).
Some weird email spam I recently received:
Anyway, here's a beautification project undertaken at the end of my street, it's so innovative how they turned grass and flowers into mud. Other photos are unrelated

Cake mood
Whatever happened to this cake happened to me too, so that's why I haven't updated (well not really, but I have to provide some rationale for the choice of image), rest assured I am still spending my days thinking about quarries and trying to write (a lot of trying and not much writing).
