Some things I listened to in September 2016

I was actually going to write something (totally unrelated to anything but not worth a post on its own) but guess what! I don't remember it anymore. So it probably wasn't important

Did We Meet Somewhere Before, from Paul McCartney's Cold Cuts

The Durutti Column are good, this is For Belgian Friends

Elliott Smith - Question mark

John Zorn - Chi Mai. This can be found on an album of reworked Ennio Morricone songs, which includes an enjoyable take on The Sicilian Clan, one of my favourites

Thick Pigeon - Dog. This is on a really hit-and-miss compilation called Les Filles Du Crépuscule which I found after I heard this song, weird because you're usually meant to do it the other way around and find the compilation first, right? I don't know. Don't care either. Seeya

July happened sorry I guess it's august now

Don't remember what any of these sound like because I put this together a month and a half ago and then pressed 'Save' instead of 'Publish' because I don't care enough to commit to anything

I'd do this for August but the only thing I've listened to is Silverchair's Diorama (what a throwback), mainly while on Klonopin on the plane (I'm not in Australia btw), and yeah all I can think about is how the drummer is married to the psychic on the Real Housewives of Melbourne

Kid Congo & The Pink Monkey Birds - La Lliarona

Anixus - Experience

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble - Flipside

Bonnie & Clyde (Herbert's Fred & Ginger Mix)

Boards of Canada - Aquarius

Virna Lindt - Underwater boy

Nada - Ma Che Freddo Fa

May or June tunes

Whoever is in charge of Gold 104 should give me that job instead

Mondo Rock good

Love Hall & Oates

Software Island-Sunrise

I should probably caption these because YouTube deletes videos and then I can't work out which song I posted when I look at these posts months later. So this is Flowers - Walls

Flash and the pan - St Peter

The Motors - Airport

April tunes posted 6 days into May, sorry

Yeah I actually compiled these songs in April I just forgot to post this thing

I know I posted a Solid Space album here already but this song is great

I'm not going to say this is 'good for a pop song' because I don't want to be the kind of person that says that. Pop music is fine and this is good (how many times have I said something 'is good' - a lot, probably)

Totally forgot how much I enjoyed this when I borrowed it from the Brimbank Library circa 2004

This has been stuck in my head for weeks

Music to write to

Does exactly what it says on the tin (or post title)

January/Feburary/March mix

Lazy and I forgot to listen to music for a few weeks, sorry. The consolation prize is a mish-mash of random things, some because of nostalgia, others because they remind me of summer

Rough voiced Paul McCartney is best Paul McCartney but you didn't hear it from me

This was playing when I was in Savers the other day

Completely unrelated to the general theme here, if there is one. Great album

Can't go wrong with two Rilo Kiley songs

And of course no Commander Venus song would be complete without Bright Eyes following it up

Including this because on the Thursday right after UHPH I heard this play in a burger shop on Cavill Ave of all places, at like 10 pm, it was really weird but I was into it

That's it, I'm lazy, it's late. Too hot to sleep but I'll try anyway. Bye

It's listening time - December 2015

Extra comprehensive edition for the holiday season

My summer of 2009 album when I got really into prog and the Tour of Duty soundtracks(?) while living in Newport:

This reminds me of nitrous oxide at the dentist:

Well

I'm back with nothing to say. I had an epiphany the other night and figured I'll start collating all the weird things I find on Trove here because they're just languishing in a lone folder on my desktop called 'INTERESTING'

I have another folder for weird houses via domain.com.au and also a giant collection of bizarre streetview things. Let's see if I get around to posting any of it

In other news... I got my violin fixed (finally) so I'll start playing that but now I really want a drum kit - I don't think this is a fleeting want? But then I hear the person upstairs learning how to play and it took them 3 months to keep a beat in time so...

I don't know. I think that's it. Anyway have my favourite song of the moment

Featuring the hit track

I went to Savers today and bought this because why not. I like disco and I like The Beatles and it's pretty funny
